About
Us
Amazing Animals was founded in 1977 for the purposes of training
and supplying animals to the film, TV, still photography and live
event industry. The company’s two directors already had an
extensive knowledge having begun in the live entertainment animal
business many years before. Since its creation, the business became
hugely instrumental in the way animals in Britain were kept, transported,
trained and displayed for entertainment purposes.
Unlike the majority of animal “Consultants” and “Suppliers”,
Amazing Animals is not merely an agency, but actually owns, keeps,
breeds and trains its animals. This ranges from giraffes to neon
tetras. The company is licensed under the Dangerous Wild Animal
Licence 1976 by West Oxfordshire District Council, which permits
them not only to keep but also to transport and exhibit wild animals
at venues throughout the United Kingdom. To the best of our knowledge
we are the only company that has such a licence.
All of our livestock are under the veterinary care of International
Zoo Veterinary Group. This group was the first of its kind in Great
Britain and grew alongside Amazing Animals to become recognised
and respected on a global scale. They attend the majority of the
company’s work.
Amazing Animals’ philosophy has always been to lead by example
and the most striking testament to this happened in 1988, when the
construction of Heythrop Zoological Gardens began. This hugely ambitious
project is the largest privately owned zoo in Europe and is designed
exclusively for the film and event industry.
